Title: Substitute Teacher
Description:
OVERVIEW: The substitute teacher is responsible for assuming the normal duties of the classroom teacher. The classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or a valid Arizona (Emergency) Substitute Certificate
Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow classroom teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate
Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students
Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment
Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways, playground and in the cafeteria
Create lesson plans, grade classwork, homework and tests and attend parent-teacher conferences (only for long-term sub assignments)
Establishes, supports, and administers positive classroom management in accordance with regulations
Provides a positive and safe environment that is conducive to learning
